At a glance

Challenge
A showroom visitor gets a brochure and a walk-around. Neither shows what a car does in sand, in snow, or with a differential locked.
Approach
A touch-first kiosk where every capability is something to try: terrain modes that change the car and the landscape, an x-ray view of the drivetrain, cabin features opened by touch, and paint colours swapped on the spot.
Result
The vehicle became explorable in the showroom, at the moment a buyer is standing next to it.
Stack
Touch-first kiosk application, interactive product visualisation, motion and interaction design.

The brief

A touchscreen kiosk that brings the MG Majestor closer to customers inside the showroom.

A buyer standing beside the car can see the paint and sit in the seats. What they can’t see is the car in sand, in snow, on broken rock, or what the drivetrain does when the surface disappears under one wheel.

The kiosk makes all of that something you reach out and try.

Everything is something to try

Touch, and the terrain changes

Choosing a terrain mode doesn’t open a paragraph about it. The car and the landscape change together: normal on the bridge, rock on a broken ledge, sand in the dunes, mud in the forest, snow on the ridge.

  • Terrain modes

Each mode shown as the car in that terrain, not described in text.

  • X-ray views

The triple differential lock and the body structure revealed through the car.

  • Cabin features

Galaxy roof, ambient lighting, the sound system and the digital cluster, opened by touch.

  • Colours

Paint swapped on the spot in Shades of Dominance.

Built for the showroom floor

Kiosk software has to behave differently from a website. It runs all day on one screen, it’s used standing up, in seconds, by someone who has never seen it before, and it has to look like the brand at full size.

Everything is touch-first: large targets, no scrolling, no typing, and a way back to the start from anywhere.
